About the project
When the roof of this estate residence caved in, demolition revealed original hollow terracotta walls with no reinforced tie columns or tie beams. The roof had been bearing directly on the masonry.
CPPMS removed and replaced the concrete roof slab and built a new reinforced structural frame inside the existing walls: fill-cell tie columns cut into the terracotta and perimeter tie beams to carry the new slab.
Scope of work
  • Removal of failed roof and slab
  • Channels cut through terracotta
  • Reinforced fill-cell tie columns
  • Perimeter tie beams
  • Formwork, shoring, and new roof slab
